以能(이능)으로 問於不能(문어불능)하며 以多(이다)로 問於寡(문어과)하며 有若無(유약무)하며 實若虛(실약허)하며

曾子曰(증자왈)

以能(이능)으로

問於不能(문어불능)하며

능력이 있으면서 

능력이 못한 이에게 물으며,

以多(이다)로

問於寡(문어과)하며

많이 알아도

적게 아는 이에게 물으며,

有若無(유약무)하며

實若虛(실약허)하며

있어도 없는 듯이 하고,

꽉 차 있어도 빈 듯이 하며,

犯而不校(범이불교)를 

昔者(석자)에

吾友嘗從事於斯矣러니라

(오우상종사어사의)

자신을 범하여도 

따지지 않는 것을,

예전에 내 벗(안연)이 

일찍이 이에 따랐다.

 Master Zeng(曾子) said,"Although he was able,he put questions to those who were not, although he had many talents, he put questions to those who had few,he had yet he appeared to lack,he was full he seemed empty,although he was offended against,he did not fight back.At one time my friend always used to devote his efforts to these ends."
